모든 책이 기립한 공간, <책등에 베이다>

작가 이로

무명의 쓰는 사람. '그래서요'와 '그러게요'의 세계에 산다. 짧은 분량의 작품들, 3분 30초의 음악, 90분의 영화, 단편소설과 콩트를 편애한다. 

도서관과 서점은 책을 기본으로 하지만 무척 다른 공간이다. 도서관의 책들은 빌려지거나 읽혀지거나 참고되기 위해 있고, 서점의 책들은 대부분 판매와 소유를 위해 존재한다. 그렇기 때문에 나는 도서관에서 '이곳은 욕심이 삭제된 구역' 이라는 생각을 한다.

지나치게  침묵이 필요한 이유도 그 때문 아닐까. 책의 수량에 한계가 있으니 먼저 보기 위한 경쟁이야 있겠지만, 책을 소장하기 위한 욕망에 비할 것은 아니다. 심지어 절판된 책들도 아무렇지 않게 진열되고 대여되는 곳이 도서관인지라 상업적인 흐름과 무관한, 책의 창고에 가까운 장면들이 많다.

모든 책이 기립한 공간이 주는 긴장 속에서 그때 나를 홀리는 것은 바로 책등이다.

작가의 소개가 더 마음에 들었습니다. '그래서요'와 '그러게요'의 세계는 어떤 세계일까요? 부산출생, 다큐멘터리 사진을 공부하고 미술관에서 개인전을 열며 국내외 100여 회의 단체전에 참가한 작가라고 합니다. 그의 작품 서울시립미술관 등에 공공소장되어 있고, 현재 일본 대지진 이후 쓰나미와 방사능에 대한 사진 작업을 하고 있습니다. 지구적인 문제에 관심이 많은 작가인가봅니다..

도서관과  책이라면 저는 어떤 이야기도 참 재밌습니다. 알베르토 망구엘의 <밤의 도서관>(훌리아의 문학 블로그 http://roh222.blog.me/220639037488 ◀리뷰보기 )을 좋아해요. 그의 책도 이어서 봐야하는데.. 계속 미루고만 있네요... 

책 으로 빼곡히 채워진 방에 처음 들어설 때 어떻게 행동하고, 무엇을 기대해야 하는지, 또 어떤 무언의 약속이 맺어지고 무엇이 허락되는지를 본능적으로 아는 사람은 없다. 도서관은 기술이 아니라 이성이 무질서하게 정리된 책들을 지배하는 곳이다. 책은 먼 옛날부터 예언의 도구였다. 책들은 내게 아무런 요구도 하지 않고, 내게 온갖 깨달음을 줄 뿐이다. 내 책들은 나보다 훨씬 많은 것을 안다.

제가 도서관엘 가면 책 볼 생각에 긴장을 많이 합니다. 계속 습관이 되다보니 도서관만 가면 화장실을 기본이 3번이예요. 안그래야지 생각하는데 식은 땀이 납니다. ^^; 그렇게 긴장이 풀리고 나면 책장을 하나씩 클리어해 나가요. 새로운 신간 책장도 8개도 차례로 넘기고 이어서 보는 책도 챙기고 이곳 저곳을 누비다 지치면 나오게 됩니다. 이 시간 그렇게 길지도 짧지도 않아요. 2시간 정도? 앉아서 읽고 오진 않습니다. 대여해서 한짐 짊어지고 와요. 도서카드 2개를 들고 가기 때문에 가능한 일입니다. 

작년 초부터 로맹 가리 작가와 파스칼 키냐르 책을 이어 읽으며 문학의 세계에 입문했습니다. 2년차인데, 한 풀 꺽인 느낌이예요. 계속 읽어나가 겠지만 잠시의 다른 놀이가 필요한 시점이란 생각이 들었습니다. 그곳은 제가 간절히 바라는 세계지만, 현실도 공부해야 겠다는 느낌이 강해졌어요. 에세이로 머리식히고 비즈니스, 마케팅, 인공지능, IT, 블로그 공부를 하려고 합니다. 어디를 집중해서 할지 모르는 상태지만, 읽고  찾다보면 길이 보이지 않을까.. 생각하고 있어요.

Libraries and bookstores are book-based, but very different. Books in libraries are borrowed, read, or referenced, and books in bookstores are mostly for sale and ownership. That's why I think in the library that 'this is the area where greed is removed'.

Maybe that's why we need too much silence. There is a limit to the quantity of books, so there may be competition to see them first, but it is not comparable to the desire to have a book. There are many scenes close to the warehouse of the book, regardless of the commercial flow, since even out-of-print books are readily displayed and rented out as a library.

In the tension of space where all the books are standing, it is the book that holds me then.

I liked the introduction of the artist more. What is the world of 'So' and 'Yes'? Born in Pusan, I studied photographs of documentaries, held solo exhibitions in museums, and participated in over 100 domestic and international group exhibitions. His work has been publicly held at the Seoul Museum of Art and has been working on photographs of tsunami and radiation since the recent earthquake in Japan. I think he is interested in global issues.

If it is a library and a book, I have a funny story. I like Alberto Muguell's Library of Night (Julia's Literature blog http://roh222.blog.me/220639037488 ◀ review). I have to look at his book, too.

No one knows instinctively how to behave, what to look forward to, and what kind of promises are made and what is allowed when they first enter the room filled with books. The library is not a skill, but a place where reason is dominated by disorderly organized books. Books have long been a tool of prophecy. Books do not demand me, but give me all kinds of enlightenment. My books know much more than I do.

When I go to the library, I feel a lot of tension to think about seeing books. When I go to the library, I go to the bathroom three times. I think I should not, but I have a cold sweat. ^^; Once you are relaxed, clear the bookshelves one by one. The new bookshelves also turn eight books in turn, and then you can take a look at the book, and you will get tired everywhere. This time is not so long or short. About two hours? Do not sit down and read. I rent it and carry it. It is possible to carry two book cards.

Since the beginning of last year, I have entered the world of literature by reading Romagni and Pascal Kinar. It is the second year, but it feels like a snap. I will continue reading, but I thought it was time for another play. It is a world I crave for, but I feel strong that I should study reality as well. I am going to study my business, marketing, artificial intelligence, IT, and blog. I do not know where to focus, but I think I can see the road when I read and search.
